Ordering
and Shipping
It is best for plants to be shipped in the spring or fall while
they are dormant. Furthermore, our plants are covered with snow
from about December 1 to April 1. For this reason, we recommend
that you order for delivery in April or May or again in September
and October. Because we ship in larger pots you can
easily hold over our shipment until you are ready to plant. Just
remove the plants from the shipping materials, place them in
a cool location out of doors, and water as necessary.
If you wish, you may specify a particular week within our shipping season.
All shipments will leave the nursery on Monday or Tuesday to
assure arrival before the weekend.
We ship by UPS ground service for deliveries east of the Mississippi River
with a maximum transit time of 3 days. For deliveries outside this area, we
use UPS 3 day air which is much more expensive.
When ordering
please give attention to the following points:
- We cannot ship to the following states: AZ, CA, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA.
- Make sure your address is correct for UPS shipments.
Post office boxes will not work.
- Specify a delivery date. Remember our plants are only available
for shipping from about April 1 to November 1. We recommend shipping
in April, May, September, or October.
- Please specify what to do if we are out of stock.
- We accept money orders, check, MasterCard, or Visa card.
- We have no minimum order amount. However we do have a minimum
shipping charge. The cost for shipping in New England and New
York is $12.00 plus 12% of the amount of your plant order over
$75.00 For other states east of the Mississippi River the minimum
shipping charge is $17.00 plus 17% of the amount of your plant
order over $75.00. For other areas, please contact us.
- If you are planning to be in the Bangor area
during our shipping season, you might be able to arrange a pick-up
at the nursery. This will save on shipping costs.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
We will do
everything reasonable to satisfy you as a customer. If you are
unhappy with the plants, call within 5 days of their arrival
to discuss the problem. If there is shipping damage, please call
as soon as possible. We can not offer a guarantee that these
plants will grow in your garden. However we would be happy to
offer you advice on what might work in your situation. Some alpines
grow very slowly and therefore, as indicated in the catalog,
one year old plants are still small. Some of the Gentians, for
instance, will need another year of growth before they might
bloom. In any case we will not be liable for any amount in excess
of the price plus shipping.
