Amsonia hubrichtii - Called bluestar in its native Oklahoma, it is a surprisingly hardy plant for the sunny border. It is also useful in the butterfly garden as a source of early nectar. Little, star-shaped, bright blue flowers cover the plant in spring. Fall foliage is a real plus. Prefers a moist, sunny location where it can establish over many years. (35"h x 24"w) 3.5" - $5.50.

Androsace albana - – This attractive species is a monocarp or, at best, short-lived. None-the-less, it is worth the effort for its clusters of white flowers on short stems above a nice basal rosette. Grow it in a scree bed with protection from hot sun. (8”h x 4”w) RG, T, 2.5” - $5.00

Androsace hirtella – - A tiny cushion plant, this one produces a profusion of small white flowers just above tight rosettes. Androsace mathildae - This lovely little species makes a cushion of bright green, shinny leaves with white flowers on very short stems. I find that it is not long-lived, but can be very attractive for a few seasons. It will need scree conditions with some protection from hot sun. It is also a very nice trough plant. Androsace sarmentosa v. Chumbyi Androsace sarmentosa v. Chumbyi - Furry rosettes of leaves produce flowers on 3" stems in May. Then runners produce new rosettes for next year. Very hardy and nice. Requires rock garden conditions in full sun. Himalayan Mts. Easy. (3"h x 8"w) RG, T, 3.5" - $5.00

Androsace villosa - Another difficult but growable gem which makes rosettes of silky leaves with small white flowers just above the cushion. If happy, this species will slowly spread into a clump. Andryala aghardii - Add this one to your collection of plants with gray-white leaves. From a basal clump of these leaves come small yellow daisy flowers in summer. A beautiful combination.
