Galax  urceolata  (Wandflower) – Galax urceolata (Wandflower) – - Native to the southern Appalachians, this hardy groundcover is adaptable to northern states. The bright green, shiny leaves form a mat with pretty wands of white flowers. Requires a moist, humus-rich, acidic soil in half to full shade. (14" h x spreading) W, 1 quart - $6.00.

Genista carninalis - A decumbent shrublet with very pretty, bright yellow pea flowers. Needs a scree or very well drained soil in a sunny, warm spot. (3”h x 10”w) RG, 3.5” - $5.00

Genista sagittalis – - This interesting European species has prostrate, winged branches which give rise to short flowering stems with many bright yellow flowers. This plant will want a warm, sunny spot in a very well drained soil. (8”h x 10”w) RG, 2.5” - $5.00, 3.5" - $5.50

Gentiana acaulis Gentiana acaulis - (The horticultural name for a cluster of very similar species)- This is the beautiful spring gentian that produces large, upturned trumpets of an incredible dark blue color. Easy to grow but not always easy to bloom. Best advice is moist, fertile soil in full sun. If it doesn’t bloom after a few years, move to another site. This offering is of 2 year old plants. Gentiana angustifolia (=horticultural G. acaulis type) - This is one of the famous spring trumpet Gentians. Gorgeous, dark blue trumpets arise from a mat of glossy leaves. Requires a well drained, moist, yet not wet soil in a sunny, but not hot location. These Gentians are tricky and do not grow well for everyone. This offering is for 1-year-old plants. Gentiana asclepiadae - Called the willow gentian, this species is a woodlander that produces a chain of large, blue flowers on 24" stems. Plant it in a rich, moist soil in light shade. This offering is of one-year-old plants. (24"h x 24"w) W, 2.5"-$5.00              Out of Stock

Gentiana clusii - This species is usually grouped with the Gentiana acaulis group. Dark blue, 1" long trumpets are produced in spring on very small plants. A very desirable plant for the rock garden. Gentiana sino-ornata Gentiana sino-ornata - This species makes a mat of grassy foliage with terminal flowers that are incredibly beautiful. The upright trumpets are 3" long with sky blue faces and green stripes down the sides. DEMANDS acid soil which is humus-rich in sun or light shade. Not difficult but any lime will kill the plant. Geum triflorum - A clump-forming species with attractive, pinnate, toothed leaves that have a ferny appearance. Nodding straw-colored flowers are bowl-shaped. Fuzzy seed heads follow. Well drained soil in partial shade. (8”h x 8”w) RG, 3.5” - $5.00

Glaucium flavum v. aurantiacum – - The common name of “Horned Poppy” is descriptive. Silvery, thistle-like foliage produce beautiful orange/red poppy flowers in summer. Interesting seed pods follow. This plant is too large for most rock gardens but great for transitional areas. Short-lived but self-sows happily, Any good, well drained soil in full sun. (30”h x 10”w) 3.5” - $5.00

Gypsophila aretioides – - This plant is the hardest cushion plant we grow and may also be the easiest. Tiny leaves make a solid cushion with only an occasional flower. The cushion slowly increases in size. Our 5 year-old mother plant is about 4” across. Place it in full sun in a well drained rock garden soil. (1"h x 3"w)T, RG, 2.5” - $6.00

Gypsophila bungeana Gypsophila bungeana - A pretty dwarf baby’s breath with fine foliage and cymes of pink flowers in early summer. Nice and easy. Well drained soil in full sun. (7"h x 8"w) RG, 3.5"-$5.00
