Haberlea rhodopensis Haberlea rhodopensis - This charming species resembles its distant relative, the African Violet. Given a moist, well drained soil in shade or morning sun, this plant is quite hardy. The velvet, evergreen leaves form a basal clump from which arise pretty, lilac-colored, tubular flowers. Helianthemum nummularium (=H. arcticum) Helianthemum nummularium (=H. arcticum) - This seed came to me as H. arcticum and it does seem to vary from the more common species. The leaves are tiny and the flowers are yellow in summer. Full sun and very well drained soil. (3"h x 10"w) RG, 3.5"-$5.00

Helianthemum nummularium ‘Orange’ Helianthemum nummularium ‘Orange’ - A ground-hugging shrublet with bright orange flowers in summer. I’ve had this clone for many years and it is very hardy. Well drained soil in a sunny, warm site. (4"h x 8"w) RG, 2.5"-$5.00

Helichrysum flanaganii - In its native land of South Africa, this everlasting flower makes carpets of yellow during summer. In cultivation it needs well drained soil in a sunny spot. This is reported to be one of the hardiest of the Helichrysums. Give it room to spread. (5”h x 15”w) RG. 3.5” - $5.00

Hepatica acutiloba – - One of the first flowers of spring is the Hepatica. This eastern North American native produces its lovely white, pink or blue flowers well before the trees leaf out. Best sited in a rich, organic soil under deciduous trees or in dappled shade. (5"h x 7"w) W, 3.5" - $6.00

Heuchera pulchella Heuchera pulchella - A dwarf Heuchera which is deservedly popular. Scalloped leaves give rise to 10" spikes of small, pinkish, urn-shaped flowers in summer. Rock garden conditions in full sun. (10"h x 7"w) RG, 3.5"-$5.00

Heucherella ‘Rosalie’ – - This plant is a hybrid between Heuchera and Tiarella with good qualities from both genera. Green and brown mottled leaves last all season with panicles of pink flowers in the spring. A wonderful and easy plant for the edge of a woodland. (14”h x 10”w) W, 3.5” - $5.50

Hosta venusta Hosta venusta - This miniature Hosta is grown for its flowers which are very attractive. These bluish purple, funnel shaped flowers are produced in racemes of 4 to 8 on 10" stems in late summer. Good, moist soil in shade. (10"h x 12"w) W, 3.5" - $5.50

Hutchinsia alpina ssp. brevicaulis - This subspecies is very similar to the species except that it is smaller and forms a small cushion. The leaves are a bright green. It is, unfortunately, harder to please then the species although it will self-sow and regenerate itself. Try it in a scree or very well drained soil with some light shade. (3"h x 4"w) RG, 2.5" - $5.00

Hylomecon japonicum Hylomecon japonicum - A pretty plant for the woodland garden which produces bright yellow flowers on 10" stems above a clump of attractive leaves. Moist, well drained, rich soil in partial shade is best. (10"h x 8"w) W, 1 quart- $6.00
