Meconopsis betonifcifolia - The beautiful Himalayan poppy produces its sky-blue flowers on 3 foot stems in spring. It will succeed in fertile, moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade in a cool spot. Acid soil will improve the color. Do not allow to bloom the first year. Not easy but definitely possible in areas where summers are mild. (36"h x 12"w) W, 3.5"-$6.00, 1 quart-$7.50

Meconopsis X Blue cross (=hort. X sheldonii) - Meconopsis X Blue cross (=hort. X sheldonii) - - This hybrid between M. betonicifolia and M. grandis is usually easier than either species. The blue poppy flowers are similar to the parents. Requires fertile, moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade in a cool spot. Do not allow to bloom the first year. Difficult. Mentha requienii (Corsica mint) Mentha requienii (Corsica mint) - This is one of my favorite tiny plant. The tiny leaves release the most pungent mint fragrance at the slightest touch. Requires some winter protection in the North. Prefers light shade and moist soil. (1" h x 10"w) 3.5"- $5.00

Mertensia alpina - Prostrate stems radiate from a rootstock and produce terminal clusters of beautiful, little, bright blue flowers in early summer. Rock garden conditions in full sun with drier soil during late summer dormancy. (3"h x 8"w) RG, T, 3.5" - $5.00              Out of Stock

Mertensia maritima Mertensia maritima - The leaves of this plant are a beautiful blue-gray color. Procumbent stems produce blue flowers from pinkish buds. This plant is our East Coast native, "Beach mertensia". Requires very well drained soil in full sun. (8"h x 20"w) RG, 1 quart - $7.00

Mertensia virides ssp. cana - - This and other alpine Mertensia are beauties. Intense blue flowers blossom on short stems. Likes moist yet well drained soil in sun. Often goes summer dormant. (7”h x 5”w) RG, 2.5” - $5.00

Microbiota decussata - This evergreen, native to Siberia, is incredibly hardy. In leaf it is similar to arborvitae. It forms a mat about 12” high that spreads to 4 feet wide. The foliage turns an attractive dark reddish/brown in the winter. Any well drained soil in light shade or sun. (12”h x 48”w) 4” - $6.00

Muehlenbeckia axillaris - Called wire plant, this little mat-former is usually modest in habit but can become invasive in perfect conditions. Tiny leaves with tiny yellow flowers look nice tucked into a crevice. Well drained soil in full sun. (1”h x 5”w) 3.5”- $5.00

Mukdenia rossii - This woodlander is a member of the Saxifraga family. Spikes of white flowers are produced in the spring followed by attractive leaves, which persist all season. Prefers a moist, fertile soil in light shade. (12"h x 10"w) W, 1 quart - $6.00

Myosotis rupicola Myosotis rupicola - This alpine version of forget-me-not has the same pretty little blue flowers as the common forget-me-not. However this species makes a mound of rough-textured leaves with flowers held just above the foliage. Prefers afternoon shade in a moist, yet well drained soil. (7"h x 7"w) RG, 3.5"-$5.00
