Papaver miyabeanum Papaver miyabeanum - A very pretty poppy both in leaf and in flower. The large flowers are a pale yellow color. While each plant survives only a few seasons, it self-sows to keep the colony going. Rock garden conditions in full sun. ( 7"h x 6"w) RG, 3.5" - $5.00

Penstemon  x mexicale Penstemon x mexicale - This easy Penstemon seems to be vigorous and adaptable. Linear leaves on 14" stems produce spikes of red, tubular flowers in summer. It is rather large for the rock garden, but great as a transitional plant to other parts of the garden. Any good, well drained garden soil in full sun. Penstemon caespitosus v. caespitosus Penstemon caespitosus v. caespitosus - A mat-forming species with tiny leaves which produce blue to violet tubular flowers in summer. Penstemon davidsoni v. menziesii - This variety is very similar to the species which is one of the finest miniature Penstemons for the rock garden. Penstemon hirsutus ‘Pygmaeus’ Penstemon hirsutus ‘Pygmaeus’ - This is a selected form of our native Penstemon. Petrocalis pyrenaica - From the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains comes this Draba relative which is very attractive. Pink, crucifer flowers are held just above a mat of finely divided foliage. I have found this plant to be quite winter hardy but not easy to grow. Try a fertile scree bed in full sun in a spot that doesn’t get too hot. One to a customer, please. Phlox caespitosa ssp. pulvinata – Phlox caespitosa ssp. pulvinata – - This western Phlox makes a cushion of awl-shaped leaves with good-sized, pale blue flowers in summer. Phlox divaricata ‘London Grove’ - This Phlox is quite adaptable to planting sites. It is happy in semi-shade to full sun in cooler areas. Phlox grayi Phlox grayi - This species forms a slowly spreading mat of narrow leaves with pretty pink flowers in early summer and occasionally fall.
