Chrysogonum virginianum (Gold Star) – - This eastern North American native is a wonderful ground cover for a shade to part sun location. Cotoneaster apiculatus ‘Tom Thumb’ - This cultivar forms a miniature shrub of small, shiny leaves. It does not usually flower or produce berries, but forms a nice little green mound. (4"h x 6"w) 3.5" - $6.00

Cotoneaster ‘Tiny’ - I do not have a positive ID on this Cotoneaster but I think it is a C. microphyllus variety. When young, it grows several inches a year. However in lean soil, it stays quite compact. My 5 year old plant is only 5 inches tall by 8” across. It produces a huge crop of red berries. Choice. Cymbalaria hepaticifolia – - This kenilworth ivy is much more contained then other species. The distinctive leaves do, indeed, resemble Hepatica, with small, white snapdragon like flowers. This sprawler requires some room in a half shady spot (even a hanging basket). Well drained, fertile soil is best. Pretty purple and white flowers are produced in abundance all summer long. Cypripedium parviflorum v. pubescens – Cypripedium parviflorum v. pubescens – - The yellow lady-slipper is a garden treasure. The plant forms clumps over time with most stems carrying the large yellow slippers above the foliage. Requires a moist, well drained, humus-rich soil in light shade. Delphinium alpestris - This is a wonderful miniature Delphinium I have grown for years although I cannot verify the name. Dicentra peregrina – Dicentra peregrina – - This gem produces beautiful reddish "bleeding-hearts" from a basal clump of greenish-gray leaves. It seems to be cold-hardy but requires careful attention to soil and watering. Try growing in an acidic scree, in a sunny, but not hot place. Keep on the dry side in the fall and winter. Dodecatheon alpinum Dodecatheon alpinum - The flowers are like miniature cyclamen on 6" stems in summer. This beauty comes from the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Needs moisture in the spring but can be drier in the summer. Full sun in rich soil. (8"h x 6"w) RG, 3.5" - $5.50

Dodecatheon jeffreyi ssp. pygmaeum - This lovely western shooting star features dark lavender flowers on 10” stems. It will be happiest in a well drained yet moist soil in cool sunlight which may dry out in late summer when the plant goes dormant. Seed collected in Siskiyou Co, CA at 6800 feet.
