Alyssum saxatile ‘Tom Thumb’ - This miniature shrublet is quite slow growing and suitable for a trough. The leaves are gray and downy with yellow flowers produced in early summer. (5"h x 5"w) RG, T, 2.5" - $5.00.              Out of Stock

Androsace albana - – This attractive species is a monocarp or, at best, short-lived. None-the-less, it is worth the effort for its clusters of white flowers on short stems above a nice basal rosette. Grow it in a scree bed with protection from hot sun. (8”h x 4”w) RG, T, 2.5” - $5.00

Androsace carnea ssp. Lageri - This sub-species makes a tighter cushion with pink flowers on very short stems. Just a bit more difficult than the other sub-species. Androsace carnea v. brigantiaca Androsace carnea v. brigantiaca - Tiny cushions with white flowers on short stems in early spring. This is one of the easier of the elite Androsaces. Androsace carnea v. rosea – Androsace carnea v. rosea – - This variety forms a small cushion with pink/red flowers in early spring. It is one of the easier of the elite Androsace. Androsace mathildae - This lovely little species makes a cushion of bright green, shinny leaves with white flowers on very short stems. I find that it is not long-lived, but can be very attractive for a few seasons. It will need scree conditions with some protection from hot sun. It is also a very nice trough plant. Androsace sarmentosa v. Chumbyi Androsace sarmentosa v. Chumbyi - Furry rosettes of leaves produce flowers on 3" stems in May. Then runners produce new rosettes for next year. Very hardy and nice. Androsace vandellii - From a tight cluster of silver/grey rosettes come white flowers just above. A mature plant is a sight to behold. Androsace villosa - Another difficult but growable gem which makes rosettes of silky leaves with small white flowers just above the cushion. If happy, this species will slowly spread into a clump. Andryala aghardii - Add this one to your collection of plants with gray-white leaves. From a basal clump of these leaves come small yellow daisy flowers in summer. A beautiful combination. Aquilegia jonesii - This tiny columbine is stunning in its native Rocky Mts. A choice, difficult little prima donna, it features tight, sky-blue flowers just above the foliage. Campanula chamissonis (C. pillosa) Campanula chamissonis (C. pillosa) - This choice beauty is amenable to our climate. Rosettes of leaves slowly spread and produce good-sized upright blue bells. Cotoneaster ‘Tiny’ - I do not have a positive ID on this Cotoneaster but I think it is a C. microphyllus variety. When young, it grows several inches a year. However in lean soil, it stays quite compact. My 5 year old plant is only 5 inches tall by 8” across. It produces a huge crop of red berries. Choice. Delphinium alpestris - This is a wonderful miniature Delphinium I have grown for years although I cannot verify the name. It is a clump-former with good-sized, typical blue Delphinium flowers on 3-5” stems. Requires a scree in full sun. (Sorry – I have only a handful of these – one to a customer). Dicentra peregrina – Dicentra peregrina – - This gem produces beautiful reddish "bleeding-hearts" from a basal clump of greenish-gray leaves. It seems to be cold-hardy but requires careful attention to soil and watering. Try growing in an acidic scree, in a sunny, but not hot place. Keep on the dry side in the fall and winter. Douglasia laevigata (=Androsace laevigata) - This challenging little cushion plant produces rose colored flowers on short stems. In our experience, it appears to be winter hardy but fickle. Douglasia montana (=Androsace montana) - A Rocky Mountain native which forms a cushion of needle-like leaves with pink flowers in late spring. This is a tricky plant to maintain. Try it in a scree with some afternoon shade. (5”h x 4”w) RG, T, 2.5” - $5.50              Out of Stock

Draba lasiocarpa - An easy and pretty Draba for the trough or rock garden. The leaves bristle with little hairs and form tight rosettes. The yellow flowers are produced on 3" stems in very early spring. Must have well drained soil. Easy. (3"h x 3"w) RG, T, 2.5" - $5.00

Draba rigida v. bryoides - This Draba makes a dense cushion of tiny rosettes with clusters of yellow flowers on 2-3” stems. We have found this to be quite hardy in the open rock garden. Requires a very well drained soil in full sun. (3”h x 4”w) RG,T, 2.5” - $5.00

Draba ventosa - This tiny Draba has small, gray, wooly leaves in cushions with yellow flowers on short stems. Nice in the rock garden or in a trough. Requires a sunny spot in a good rock garden soil or scree. (3"h x 4"w) RG,T, 2.5"-5.00              Out of Stock

Edraianthus pumilio Edraianthus pumilio - This is a classic alpine from the European Alps. Beautiful blue, upright bells sit upon a grassy cushion in summer. It requires a very well drained soil or scree in full sun. (3"h x 5"w) RG, T, 2.5" - $5.50              Out of Stock

Epilobium crassum - Fleshy leaves produce light pink flowers on very short stems. A tricky plant for a scree in cool sunlight. (2”h x 4”w) T, RG, 2.5” - $5.50              Out of Stock

Eriogonum gracilipes - An alpine buckwheat with grey/green leaves and pompoms that are white at first and fade to a light pink. This one will require scree conditions in full sun. (5”h x 5”w) RG,T, 2.5” - $5.00              Out of Stock

Eriogonum ovalifolium (Wellington form) - This cushion-forming alpine buckwheat produces many large pom-poms in a range of colors from yellow to red. Requires a scree or trough culture in full sun. Gentiana angustifolia (=horticultural G. acaulis type) - This is one of the famous spring trumpet Gentians. Gorgeous, dark blue trumpets arise from a mat of glossy leaves. Requires a well drained, moist, yet not wet soil in a sunny, but not hot location. These Gentians are tricky and do not grow well for everyone. This offering is for 2-year-old plants. Gentiana clusii - This species is usually grouped with the Gentiana acaulis group. Dark blue, 1" long trumpets are produced in spring on very small plants. A very desirable plant for the rock garden. Gentiana farreri hybrid Gentiana farreri hybrid - This clone shows it G. farreri genes with gorgeous inch and a half long trumpets of sky blue with white stripes.
